There needs to be a new word invented for how bearish Gary Shilling is on the economy. I'll call it "Grizzly". You may have seen him on "Kudlow & Co." speaking about the "Sub-prime Slime", well he is just as bleak and "Grizzly" in person. His 12 themes for 2007 all lead to a world wide recession. His recommendation is to buy the 30 year treasury bond for reasons of capital appreciation.
